I fully support the proposed changes.

Producers must be responsible for the waste that is created by their products because it is the producers who control HOW products are packaged. In considering the cost at the production stage, producers will make decisions that will reduce the production of waste.

Consumers have little influence on HOW products are packaged, yet it is consumers through public funding who are paying for the recycling facilities in our province. This is not fair!

Producers control how much waste is produced but the public is responsible for paying for all the packaging to be dealt with in the end.

While I am fully in support of the proposed changes, I encourage the Ontario Government to consider whether this good proposal could be made even better by adopting earlier adoption and by considering if some packaging is simply unacceptable.

I believe that the proposed changes should be introduced more quickly and, I believe that single-use bottles, particularly bottled water and other beverage containers should be subject to a deposit system.

Ultimately, I believe that bottled water and single-use coffee pods ought to be banned in Ontario because of the ultra-high level of waste that these particular products produce.
