As a resident in the area of this plant, I agree completely with Lynda Lukasik, executive director of Environment Hamilton. Emission levels should be monitored to see what the actual levels of output are and not just accepting Bartek Ingredients Inc modeled levels. I never understand why businesses are allowed to operate with exceptions to pollution outputs. These limits are put in place for a reason; to protect people and the environment for all. So why do companies get these exceptions granted to operate outside of these limits......and especially allowed to go unmonitored? Too often I hear in the media about businesses that have been allowed to self police, and how badly that all too often ends up. If exceptions are granted, at the very least they should be monitored for actual outputs.
