Given the limited range of the Yellow-breasted Chat in Ontario, cross-border collaboration on conservation and recovery activities should be high priority for support by the province, as working in isolation from U.S. agencies is unlikely to produce positive results, as recognized in the draft GRS. Further, though Pelee Island and Point Pelee are identified as the main areas of focus in the GRS, review of occurrence data from Ontario’s two Breeding Bird Atlases, as well as eBird records from the last 10 years, indicate broader occurrence than that limited geography. As such, we recommend the language of the GRS be changed to encourage work across a broader geographic scope that simply southwestern Ontario.
