Hello,
While I am in support of shifting the costs of our blue bin program to producers, I am concerned that environmental groups were not included in the consultations.
This is an opportunity to enhance and improve the program by:
- including materials created by the industrial sectors which accounts for most of our province's waste, - - set better diversion targets to ensure producers don't ignore the hardest-to-recycle materials and incentivize reduction and redesign
- ensure comprehensive recycling programs are available across the province
- ensuring producers are accountable to Ontarians in the delivery of this program
