I am a citizen of Toronto, Ontario, and I am very concerned about the proposed species at risk conservation fund. Offsetting damages by paying into a fund does not protect biodiversity, nor does it reverse the harms done to the critical members of our ecosystems. Furthermore, it is appalling that there is no requirement to use the funds generated to compensate Indigenous communities from the inevitable negative impacts of future projects. I implore you to stop greenwashing all of your initiatives, and recognize that our collective future is depend upon the preservation of the health of our environments and communities.
