I thought these planning act tools became part of the legislation as a means of creating check points to ensure development would sustainable and certain lands would be protected. This has worked thus far, so why mess with it now? I don't know about you, but I'd like to continue feeding my family with locally grown produce and support my local farming families.

Will future Housing Ministers be required to have a background in Ecosystem Management or Biology or Environmental Science etc? No, we'll leave the science to the scientists. The view is nice from behind your desk, so keep your butt I'm the chair and your nose out Municipal Planning. Let the local planners and politicians decide what is best for their communities. If they choose to make acceptions to their zoning by-laws and official plan, they can, but they will need to justify it to their community. Top down management doesn't work for small rural communities and can create opportunities for 'outsiders' to capitalize on communities, and at times it's to the detriment of said community. My $0.02
