I am horrified by the Ontario Government's recent use of MZOs. They appear utterly undemocratic, and put environmentally sensitive areas at risk. We are now in the 21st century, and yet recent secretive use of the MZO by the Mayor of Stratford is undemocratic at best, and appears suspicious and corrupt at its worst.
The use of MZOs seems RIPE for abuse, putting provincial and municipal "leaders" directly in the path of temptation and corporate bullying by developers who care only for profit above all else.
The recent MZO put in place to surreptitiously smooth the way for the Xinyi glass factory has destroyed public trust, and left constituents with the very strong impression that Ontario is for SALE, and democracy, due process, safety, and public consultation be DAMNED.
We do not need pollution generating factories. We need to be looking to the future.
