I support inclusionary zoning, as the availability of affordable housing contributes to the overall wellness of our Province's people.
I DO NOT support the Province having the ability to override the City's Site Plan Control or to override the requirement for community consultation. Given the level of detail addressed by a Site Plan and the high degree to which it impacts the current residents of a community, such details should be addressed by City Council, and must include input by the community. Further, there are always community-level nuances that need community-level input in order to create vibrant healthy neighbourhoods. I don't see why we can't have community-level input while still increasing housing stock in our communities.
I also do not support the amendment of MZOs without public notice. The transparency of issues that directly impact our province's residents to thrive and contribute to its social fabric is of utmost importance.
