I strongly believe that the municipality and community for any development should be directly engaged in planning. The proposal to remove their involvement will only favour profits of developers, and will have a long lasting detrimental effect on the community. Those who live by the development deserve a say. Municipalities should also be respected and involved in planning, as they have long term visions which they are elected to pursue and preserve.
I strongly object to the proposal that the Ontario govt can retroactively change the terms of an MZO without giving public notice. This seems like a provision to support bad faith actions, and the "pull the wool over the eyes" of those who care and are affected the most. This provision must be removed, and notice always provided for any proposed change.
This reads like seeking permission to bulldoze without concern for anything other than profits for the developers, and I find it deeply offensive.
