The potential for this proposal to allow for politically-motivated decision making to override community opinion/preference/need is far too great for it to be allowed to be put in place. The current government has shown a tendency to favour corporate interest over the environment, public health, and community need. This government would undoubtedly use this revision to the Act to continue ramming corporate interests down the throats of local municipalities and citizens, however, this revision to the Act is dangerous regardless of which government is in power.
