It seems cowardly for the provincial government to blame high electricity costs on renewable energy when it knows
* renewables are a small portion of the provincial bill
* renewable energy is becoming cheaper; it's the wave of the future
* the main reason for high prices is the government's inexplicable love affair with nuclear energy, extraordinarily expensive for decades to come (unlike renewables, its price will rise)
* it had the option to buy large amounts of cheap power from Quebec
* privatizing Hydro One has added layers of bureaucracy and profits to its operations, while making decisions for the public rather than private interest more difficult
