Schedule 3 should be removed from the bill 257 which is supposed to be to support broadband technology. A planning policy schedule should not be included in this piece of legislation. The government should NOT be using MZOs to bypass proper planning under the Natural Heritage provisions of the Provincial Planning polices. There are many important natural heritage features , such as wetlands, forests, streams and rivers outside of the Greenbelt which need to be protected by the government. Previous MZOs have allowed the destruction of significant natural features, and retroactively making the power of MZOs to avoid the requirements of the Provincial Planning policies is a very bad decision. There is currently a climate change crisis and it is absolutely necessary to protect the few remaining green areas in the GTA and southern Ontario. These green areas provide numerous benefits to the natural environment which in turn supports human life.
