The choices facing us on the planet are obvious and life-threatening: We can
either adopt, immediately, 100% renewable energy , or face various
types of disasters caused by our continued use of fossil fuels, and
of fostering their production.
Furthermore, nuclear power presents further problems for those of us
who live on this planet: There are no ways to decontaminate spent
fuel, decommissioned power plants, or mine tailings, except by
waiting hundreds of thousands of years. Even ignoring these
problems, construction of new nuclear plants will take decades --
decades that we do not have.
Massively reduced use of fossil fuels is key, as is eliminating motor
vehicles as the opiate of the masses. Solar and other renewable energy
sources are crucial to our survival, as it creation of scalable
electrical energy storage systems, to allow solar and wind power to
be used effectively.
