As a concerned Ontarian who has seen first hand how the current Ford administration has blatantly ignored the wishes of Ontarians, local governments, conservation authorities, etc. I cannot support this proposal. This proposal would give carte blanche to the Minister to do as they see fit and as we have seen over the past few months, that will be anything that advances the Ford administration's agenda to open Ontario for business. The proposal specifically states "Zoning orders can be used to protect a provincial interest (e.g., to protect an environmentally sensitive feature by prohibiting uses) or to help overcome potential barriers or delays to critical projects (e.g., to speed up planning approvals for long-term care homes and affordable housing projects)." Meanwhile, as the media has made known in recent weeks, this is the complete opposite of what the proposal is being used for. All this will do is allow the Minister to put money in developers' pockets by robbing it from tax payers, because we tax payers will be the ones paying for ill-advised developments that were rushed through without proper planning consults and public meetings. It is just another way for the Ford administration to steamroll over Ontarian's concerns in order to meet its own goals. This proposal is wrong and it will not support prosperity for current or future generations. Listen to the people. They are saying STOP.
