We should strive to be a society that upholds in the rule of law, democratic institutions and expertise. That an official, elected once every 4 years, should be allowed to disregard laws, institutions and experts for political ends hampers our evolution into a stable, civilised and fair society. Accordingly, I am vehemently opposed to any action, including these amendments to the Planning Act, that would allow a handful of politicians to consolidate and wield power.
