As always, when big business and the environment collide, there is always controversy. There has to be an environmental assessment that includes Indigenous sovereignty. This is usually a written inclusion, but that is rarely followed. We have seen time and again where extraction collides with Indigenous rights almost always leads to violence. This has to stop.

The environment cannot be an afterthought. It has to be the main motivation. We are at a critical point in environmental degradation. Extraction has to follow best practices before money.
