I am deeply concerned by the prospect the current renewable energy requirements will be removed for all new developments. If anything, these provisions should be expanded.
At a time when the imperative to drastically reduce carbon emissions has become ever urgent and, the cost of renewable energy has reached lows formerly unexpected, this decision makes no sense. It is the government’s duty to active in the best interest and safety of its people, and measures like this which ignore apparent climate science, threaten people’s livelihoods.
I’m say this to whoever reading this as I know you are not a member of our current idiotic provincial government, which would rather spend millions to sue the federal government over its carbon tax and cancel green energy contracts - be courageous and advise against this proposal! For the sake of future generations and those already disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change today, these sorts of anti-climate measures can not be allowed.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. Hopefully you’ll listen where our government has routinely not!
