The Provincial Groundwater Management System has been working quite well given the scope and complexity involved. Why mess with what works to replace it with an unknown? This is not an improvement to this very crucial duty.

Improve governance? Not really. No evidence of that al all.
Improve oversight? No evidence of that either
Increase accountability? By downloading to municipalities the costs involved? No.

This constant downloading to municipalities did not work in Walkerton as an example. This is setting a dangerous threat into motion that will affect agriculture, First Nations, municipalities and people with private wells negatively. We cannot forget the hard lessons from the past and keep repeating them.

This is a provincial responsibility, with oversight on a provincial level and therefore paid for by the province. Many municipalities are stretched particularly during this Covid time. This is not the time to add yet another financial burden.

This is a potentially dangerous scheme to increase property taxes in municipalities. This is shortsighted at best, will cost lives at worst, displays poor judgement and timing.

Mr. Harris wears the shame of Walkerton as a result of similar bad judgement. Please reconsider such reckless action.
