The pandemic has shown us how important our natural spaces are to the health and well being of the people of Ontario. This bill will make it more difficult for well established and important conservation area services and resources (e.g. trails, parking lots, washrooms, visitor centers etc.) to be maintained.

We need more opportunities for getting out into nature, not fewer. Without funding, the conservation authorities will likely be unable to ensure the upkeep and delivery of important services.

Considering the government keeps bragging about putting $6 million into Ontario Parks so people can get out an enjoy natural spaces, this seems like a pretty contradictory move. Making it harder for CAs to provide these services is making it harder for the people of Ontario to enjoy natural spaces.

Restricting CAs to the core mandate (from decades ago) is a move to let developers and municipalities do what they want. It doesn't benefit the people of Ontario.
