It is essential, if not important that there is within the public domain governance of our land and wild spaces and wildlife. Otherwise, decision-makers prevail upon what must be conserved and preserved for development purposes disregarding the impact to both the eco-systems [often already threatened] but also the bio-diversity of all species [plant and animal]. Far too often vulnerable wetlands, forests, waterways, etc., are developed for the money it will generate governments at all levels. Money that often 'feathers personal nests' while destroying the aforementioned areas that will never recover. Conservation Authorities with public input for the better and greater good for all concerned must be eminent to preserve and conserve our land wisely while at the same time acknowledging it requires tax dollars to do so. Rather pay taxes on preserving our eco-system and the bio-diversity of floral/fauna than pay for costly infrastructures because of development [where concrete and unsightly structures prevail serving the higher income levels of our society].
