As the president of Chaffey’s Area Lakes Association, I am writing on behalf of our members.
1.We would like to see recreation and education programs become mandatory so that they continue to be accessible to the public and will be maintained by funds that are more readily available. Outdoor recreation has been proven to be essential to mental and physical health, now, more than ever. Conservation Authorities do not have the revenue making capacity to sustain all of the conservation areas and their educational programs at the level that is necessary.
2. Private land stewardship programs should be made mandatory to protect our green spaces and natural environs from flooding and other natural hazards. This is especially important now as global warming is creating more violent and unpredictable weather.
