To the Ministry of Environment, Parks and Recreation (formerly Ministry of Environment and Climate Change),

I deeply disapprove of the planned cancellation of Cap and Trade.

Cap and trade is a fantastic way to reduce emissions. We give out a number of permits and lower the amount of emissions allowed overtime, such as every three years, which is what the Provincial Liberal government had planned on doing. The amount it would cost families is reasonable and it provided much needed funding in things like infrastructure, school repairs, social housing, and green energies. To say it doesn't reduce emissions just doesn't hold up as an argument. The cost to a family is on average $13/month and these costs will reduce overtime with the implementation of green energies. Your plan of cancelling cap and trade will only help large corporations. Keeping cap and trade will help everyone on this earth.

There are many countries around the world that have implemented BOTH a Cap and Trade and Carbon Tax! Some of those countries include: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Ireland, UK and France. These countries and the people in them are doing great work and we should follow their examples.

The fact that your Ministry currently has NO plan to tackle emissions is deplorable. You provide NO estimate as to when a reduction of emissions plan will be implemented. That is frightening. The sheer fact that you did not even provide consultation until a lawsuit occurred is shameful.

The Conservative government WILL lose this court battle with the Federal government. Don't waste our money. But when I inevitably hear that the Federal government wins the lawsuit I will be joyous for our judicial system and deeply ashamed at this government. I will not vote Conservative until they get some basic priorities straight.

As you should know, we need to act quickly to save the planet and the many lives that will be effected by climate change. Of course Canada will be fine in the beginning, but do you really want to contribute to the inevitable deaths of the people of this world. That is what will happen when areas in Africa become too hot to live in and too hot to grow any crops, causing people to starve.

To Rod Phillips,
As the Minister of this sector of the province I am deeply worried about your knowledge of the difference between a carbon tax and a cap and trade system. You have spoken on several occasions of "ending the carbon tax". I shouldn't have to do this but let me tell you that cap and trade is NOT the same thing as a carbon tax. Carbon tax puts a "tax" on all carbon emissions, while a cap and trade puts a "cap" on the amount of emissions allowed. I shouldn't have to tell you this! Your actions and words are very deceiving, shame on you!
