We have already submitted maps from the County of Renfrew Map site to show the waterways and Provincial wet lands in close proximity to this property. There is a slope on the field greater than 9% dumping into a waterway. We have submitted pictures given to us of loads of sewage dumped along the slopes. This property has been used as a dumping site for raw sewage containing plastics and other contaminants for over 30 years. We know there is no scientific evidence to show this is safe for the Environment and local ecosystem over this long term heavy spreading of raw sewage on the same property for so long. The owner of the property is also dumping multiple loads of waste cement(#15 NO other waste, other than Hauled Sewage, shall be stored, spread or disposed of at this site) on the same property daily. Who is responsible for the clean up of the soil when this owner ceases to have ownership and it is purchased by someone else. How often is the site monitored? The owner of the septic Pumping business has 4 trucks hauling multiple loads of raw sewage from Quebec and a large region in Ontario to this site. We live on the same road and have counted the number of trucks passing our house and turning into this site. This could not be in compliance with # 14 Hauled Sewage shall only be spread at the Site at the lower of 15 litres per square meter per 7 days. The Owner of the site has 3 other Approved sites but they are inactive. The truck loads are all going into this one site for a number of years. 5 sites are approved in this 2 km area of Whitewater Municipality. If you look at the map showing waterways and wetlands these sites are surrounded by waterways and marshland and thus wildlife that live in wet environments. The waterway or creek beside this Approved site which has had heavy raw sewage dumping for over 30 years is in the Muskrat Lake watershed. This is a contaminated lake, that many studies have determined has been caused by run off from these creeks or watershed. The creek is also flows into a Provincial wet land as seen on the Renfrew County Map.
For these reasons i ask you do not continue to Approve this location as a site to dump more raw sewage. We are Stewarts of our land and see this contamination as outdated. There is another solution. The local Pembroke Treatment plant has informed me that they have the capacity to handle all the raw sewage from this region of Ontario that would be dumped on this site (Quebec can manage their provinces raw sewage). The cost is reasonable and the regulations for when, the frequency and where the biosolids are allowed to be dumped are strict. The plastics and garbage is removed before spreading. Other Septic Pumping services in the area are taking the raw sewage to the treatment plant and charging less for the service.
