I want to commend the government for taking this step to streamline approval powers for minor land use planning matters relating to removing of a holding symbol or authorizing temporary use of land.
It makes sense to require municipalities that wish to exercise this authority to specify the types of by-laws they may delegate approval authority in their Official Plans.
Pending the success of these initiatives, there may be other tools that government may consider enacting to streamline the local planning system.
