Can you explain the criteria used to establish what MNU’s would be included in this proposed controlled deer hunt seasons changes? There are far more MNU’s that have controlled deer hun seasons than are included in this proposal.
Expanding the controlled deer hunt seasons to include all MNU’s would provide, shotgun and muzzle to a full seven days would provide more hunting opportunities. A number of MNU’s have municipalities that allow Sunday gun hunting. Expanding controlled deer season to seven days would be an excellent opportunity. For those municipalities that currently do not allow Sunday gun hunting, being proactive in including those municipalities ( MNU’s ) should the municipalities change their bylaws in the future. This would prevent a delay in implementing those new seasons.
Allowing bow hunting to occur during controlled deer hunting seasons has some potential unforeseen circumstances. There is a possibility that more Hunter conflicts will occur. The competition for a limited land base could potentially increase the number of trust pass issues. There is a potential that by allowing bowhunters and gun hunters in the field at the same time could potentially increase hunting related accidents. Currently bowhunters have far more opportunity to hunt then controlled gun shooters have. It seems unfair to me to allow more opportunities for bow hunters that gun hunters and in MNU’s that have established Controlled Deer Hunt Seasons
