I fully agree with the concept of being able to cut downed trees (with a 10 Cubic metre annual limit) for personal use without requiring a permit. The previous system of permits was onerous, allowing cuts in only specific and often distant locations. And in an era of MNR offices no longer being accessible to the public, engaging with MNR staff was downright difficult.
This will, no doubt require some policing by COs as not everyone will stick to the 10 C/M limit now take only downed trees.
