Good Day,
As part of this new proposal, how does the province intend to handle quarries or pits that have already been rehabilitated under the existing Aggregate Resources Act R.S.O 1990? For example Section 19 (i.) "all excavation faces of a pit have a slope that is at least three horizontal metres for every vertical metre" However, under the new proposed changes, a more thorough rehabilitation may have been elected for, that potentially returned the pit to its pre-extraction grade.
Is it possible for operators of former pits to reinstate their license in order to better rehabilitate their site? It would appear that had this new proposed legislature been in place, some operators would have elected to rehabilitate their sites better.
Ultimately, would the province support the reinstating of a former aggregate license in order to rehabilitate the site to a better condition than what currently exists.
