re: ERO number 019-2927 "Proposed updates to the regulation of development for the protection of people and property from natural hazards in Ontario"
Ontario's Ford government, your proposal starts with "Everyone in Ontario should be able to find a home that is right for them. But too many people are struggling with the rising cost of living and with finding housing that meets their family’s needs."
How about starting with "The ecosystem and wetlands of Ontario are unique and delicate and need to be protected at all costs if we are to maintain and support our environment and provide a sustainable Ontario for our children and beyond. To that end, we are proposing to increase the CA's oversight and at the same time explore development practices for badly needed housing that avoid areas where the flora and fauna are severely impacted, and ensure that the housing developments themselves are sustainable with initiatives such as water collection systems, solar power, and better distribution of local necessities and public transportation in order to reduce the need to drive."
Ontario, you can do better. You shouldn't be ok with sacrificing everyone's future just to make a quick buck today with your developer friends. It's not ok. Your proposal is not a solution, it's part of the problem.
