The environmental protections should be strengthened, not weakened. By limiting the number of concerns conservation authorities have about an application, environmental matters may be overlooked. Additionally, the environment is one of most unique features of Ontario. By not protecting it, Ontario is throwing out its natural identity.
Additionally, by requiring the "requiring conservation authorities to request any information or studies needed prior to the confirmation of a complete application" the bill is assuming that knowledge is Ontario is not going to increase, or make discoveries. Otherwise, it would allow for additional a requirement of additional studies or information if, for example, an endangered migratory bird is discovered to use the area after the application was made in the fall.
