I oppose building on the greenbelt. We should not be converting the greenbelt to make housing. Adding more urban sprawl is counterproductive to Ontario's housing and climate goals. This new housing, aside from permanently destroying part of the greenbelt, will create increased commuting demand and associated pollution.

I am for building new housing, and it primarily needs to be done by making it easier and cheaper for developers to build denser within our existing cities. Doing so will bring down housing prices, and reduce pollution by allowing people to live closer to where they work or go to school. The More Homes Built Faster Act is a great first step. Instead of building on the green belt, the province should continue to implement the recommendations of the housing affordability task force, which itself states that a "shortage of land isn't the cause of the problem" (p. 10) and that building on the green belt is not required.
