The Greenbelt was established for a purpose - to keep some areas natural for the health of the region, the local wildlife, forests, water, air and overall health & beauty of the area. "Ontario’s Greenbelt protects farmland, communities, forests, wetlands and watersheds. It also preserves cultural heritage and supports recreation and tourism in Ontario’s Greater Golden Horseshoe." (Ontario's Greenbelt Act 2005, Ontario.ca) It must be protected. Homes can be built elsewhere. How about legislating developers to create smaller, more environmentally sustainable homes instead in already developed areas. Leave the Greenbelt alone!
