I stand in opposition to this act as it runs counter to the welfare of the province.
You cannot randomly cut holes in a swath of green space and expect that nature will adapt. By cutting into migration corridors, you will be putting further stress on a variety of species that will already be losing habitat for to the More Homes Built Faster act.
In addition, the Oak Ridges Moraine is an area that is significantly ecologically diverse. Swapping protections from parts of it with land elsewhere in Ontario is not an equivalent swap.
At a time when the planet is in crisis due to climate change, and record numbers of species face extinction, these amendments to the act are reckless and irresponsible.
Please do not proceed with them.
