The greatest threat to the environment is pollution from the commercial Airline industry, from what I've heard there are little to no emissions control for that industry.
The other major contributor to world wide pollution is from factory farming. From the huge consumption of land / space, water, (for feed and for the animals) and methane gas release which is worse than CO2. As well as the usual pollution from shipping / transportation of the animals and meat products.
