Our family has been a part of the cottage community in Rondeau Provincial Park for five generations now. My grandfather supplied and built some of the cottages that are still part of this community. In fact, Rondeau has always had cottages as part of the park.
We have been through several lease extensions and I believe that a solution must be found for permanent occupancy of the cottage lots and a sale under Section 9(3) of the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act (2006) as directed by Minister Jeff Yurek is the best way.
I believe that the cottagers are very aware of the special nature of the park environment and are very careful to care for it. We have become excellent stewards of this special place.
I am sure a solution that provides for permanent occupancy of the remaining cottages benefits Rondeau provincial park, Chatham-Kent and the cottagers.
