The bill to change development charges will have an effect on my future employment. The municipality in which I work for pays for my salary using Development Charges. Slashing these charges will change operating and capital budgets for the foreseeable future. My employment and many others could be threated.
If the Ontario government continues down this road, its a forgone conclusion you will be voted out in the next election, and many of the policy you have decided to cut will be reinstated by a forward thinking, progressive government. One in which puts the health, the future growth of our communities in the hands of the professionals and not the few developers who have sought to find favor with your appointment.
I expect better from elected officials, and from leaders who should be leading our province towards a sustainable future, of smart cities, smart growth, complete neighbourhoods and regions. There is enough urban land available to get housing built, instead of changing policy maybe your party should work on education.
Ive spoked with friends and family who are conservative voters and live in conservative ridings, they are opposed to these bills.
It's safe to say, "loss of confidence" is around the table.
