Several of the proposed changes to the Planning Act and City of Toronto Act are commendable. For example, higher density around transit stations makes good sense. But many other aspects of the proposal are problematic. In particular, the proposed changes would:

- Remove the ability through the City of Toronto Act to secure sustainable and exterior design elements
through site plan control, including mandatory components reflected in the Toronto Green Standard (TGS). Given that we are in a climate crisis, we need to retain and strengthen every tool we have to reduce our greenhouse gases, including the TGS.

- Significantly reduce parkland dedication caps. As someone who lives in downtown Toronto, I can definitely say we need MORE parks, not fewer.

Please take the time the time to get this legislation right. It will impact the people of Ontario for generations to come. We need to get more housing built, but not at the cost of worsening the climate crisis and reducing parkland.
