The More Homes Built Faster Act is an affront to the people of Ontario. Not only will it fail to achieve the goal of housing Ontarians, but it will erode the valuable progress that the province made over decades with respect to preserving drinking water, preventing species extinction and buffering climate disaster. There is a housing shortage NOT a land shortage. There is enough space within existing city limits to densify and create housing where it's needed most. Preventing sprawl into farmland, wetlands and drinking water aquifers is beneficial to all Ontarians. I pose the following questions to the Premier:

Where will we get our clean drinking water when the aquifers are bulldozed?
How do we grow food when farmland is sold off to developers?
Where will floodwaters drain when wetlands are filled in?
How can residents afford the high taxes that municipalities will have to transfer to them?
How could anyone trust a government that would propose to sell off the very natural resources that benefit everyone?

The residents of Ontario will not benefit from this Act. The links below outline the myriad issues with Bill 23 and proposed Greenbelt development.

I urge the Premier to consider the past generations of Ontarians who were promised greenspace protection and the future generations who will be left to live in an apocalyptic wasteland if Bill 23 is passed without drastic reform.
