As citizens, Canadians, and members of this planet we have a responsibility to act on climate change. We have obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement. The current Conservative government seems intent on dismantling all the programs they can, without having alternatives or replacements. This includes the sex-ed curriculum (a program that most teachers and parents supported), environmental programs such as the electric car rebate and many others, and cap and trade.
I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy. I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint. I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050.
I fully object to the changes being made. Canceling these environmental programs without replacements that are as good or better at mitigating pollution, emissions, and environmental damage is immoral, irresponsible, partisan, short-sighted, and selfish. Do not do this.
