I would like to express my concerns about Bill 23. I support the objections to the Bill put forward by the City of Toronto and the Bruce Trail Conservancy. I am concerned about the impact of the Bill on Conservation Authorities that will greatly decrease their powers to protect the environment, and the changes to the Ontario Heritage Act, which will affect how municipalities identify and protect cultural heritage properties, leaving heritage properties more vulnerable to demolition.
I am also concerned that this Bill does nothing to increase affordable housing, but rather benefits developers of low density housing and will lead to greater urban sprawl. We need higher density, afforable housing, not single family homes built on the green belt.
