I disagree with the proposal of Bill 23.
Some concerns that I have:

● Building on the green belt will not address the shortage of affordable housing in communities major communities like Toronto
● Creation of homes in the Green Belt will facilitate expensive urban sprawl
● Focusing construction in this area will divert limited construction materials and labor away from building mixed and affordable housing in major cities, where it is desperately needed.
● Development will undermine the protection of wetlands, woodlands, rivers, streams and wildlife habitats across Ontario. We NEED this land for carbon sequestration and habitat for wildlife.
● This Bill alone holds the potential to destroy key land use planning processes that Ontario municipalities, conservation authorities, and residents need in order to protect, manage and plan for climate-resilient ecosystems and communities

In a time when the climate is collapsing and housing prices in CITIES are unattainable, and housing again, in CITIES is unaffordable, this is not the answer.

I have heard Mr. Ford argue that homes built in this area will provide affordable living for future immigrants, but this is not true. Immigrants need affordable homes close to work. They need access to schools, services and work by public transit. They do not need a home that isolates them from the city and forces the expense of a vehicle on them.

This bill discredits the conservative party. I am saddened and ashamed that such a bill could exist at this moment in history. Shame on your party Mr. ford!
