Reducing the Green Belt…

Reducing the Green Belt lands and adding home construction will harm the local ecosystems, wildlife & aquifer. It will also open the lands to colonization by invasive species such as dog strangling vine, buckthorn, various grasses, hogweed and European black alder.

Further the homes that will be built will increase traffic, pollution & energy usage. I live in Oshawa and our infrastructure like schools, hospitals and first responders are feeling an enormous strain due to the overdevelopment of housing in north Oshawa.

Finally, the proposed housing act does not require any newly built homes to have solar panels, passive heating or any other ecologically sound technology.

I do not support the expansion of housing development into the Green Belt and these lands should not be opened up for development. Keep your campaign promises and leave the Green Belt in tact.
