For one, The Greenbelt should be considered a matter of national security. We should not squander the best farming land that we have in Canada. With global supply chains increasingly becoming strained, it could be a mistake to remove this productive land from our dwindling supply.

Secondly, does it really make sense to create more homes in places people don't really want to live?
- why aren't we opening up development within Toronto and the GTA, where infrastructure already exists and can be expanded upon, rather than destroy fertile land to create infrastructure that will be poorly utilized?
- I feel a much less controversial policy would be to re-write zoning height limits across the GTA, reduce barriers to development, including insane development fees, and long lead times.
- imagine if our communities included 4-6 storey apartments with ample sized units instead of 2 storey houses. Everyone would have access to the space they craved, instead of being forced to live in cramped 200 sqft bachelor's, or 600 sqft 2beds. We could bring families back into the city.

To conclude, not only is opening up the green belt a dangerous long term decision, it's also not even an optimal decision for residents. It truly makes no sense.
