Schedule 3
Parks are one of the most important kinds of greenspace for urban residents and they are already in short supply. Hundreds of people died in British Columbia in only a few days during the heat dome in 2021. Parks provide greenspace and trees provide shade relief when temperatures are extremely high, which will become more and more common.
Schedule 3 as it stands, would cut the amount of parkland that must be set aside by developers by 50%.
It is essential to keep the parkland dedication at 1 hectare per 300 dwelling units.
