I write to express my strong support of the Region of Waterloo Councils Regional Official Plan Amendment No 6 which is now before the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for approval.
The Regional Official Plan Amendment No. 6 (ROPA6) has been the result of a cooperative effort between the Region of Waterloo, a wide group of stakeholders, the public and municipalities. Together we came up with a comprehensive plan to address the forecasted growth to 2051.
This ROPA6 focuses on densification, 15-minute communities, affordable housing while protecting our farmland and water sources. It is both environmentally and fiscally responsible.
It complies with the legislated requirements of the Planning Act, conforms to the Growth Plan and is strongly supported by First Nations.
As a senior citizen who has been proud to call the Region of Waterloo and currently Wellesley Township my home for most of my life, it is my desire to continue living in this progressive region under the inclusive, sustainable plan offered in ROPA6.
It is my strong hope that the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing will approve ROPA6 as is.
