Additional increase of ethanol content in gasoline will result in more problems with engines, fuel lines and exhaust systems. In addition, the shelf life of that gasoline is very short forcing us to add extra stabilizers which are toxic for the environment.
I strongly suggest focusing on reducing the number of SUV and track on the road. Recent statistics from car manufactures indicate that 70% of vehicles sold this year in Canada are SUV and truck. The situation is so bad that the manufactures stop producing passenger cars as their inventory is too high.
SUVs and trucks are known as fuel guzzlers polluting our environment regardless the type of fuel they use. Get them out of our road. First step is to make license fees a function of engine displacement: the higher displacement, the higher fee. That how the system works in E.U. and it works well there. Majority of cars in E.U. are small passengers cars.
On the grand scheme - there is too many people on this planet, and that is the source of all pollution problems. Our planet will fight back by making its environment inhabitable for humans until the balance is regained. Start controlling the size of population in China and India for the beginning.
