The proposed changes say that they will only cover house boats or other “watercraft equipped for overnight accommodation” and will EXCLUDE “floating house-like structures incorporating a flotation system”
The issue we are experiencing on our Lake (Kahshe lake, near Gravenhurst) is precisely this type of structure, two of which have been built for the purpose of short term rental accomodation on the Lake. Although they supposedly include small holding tanks, since there is no Marina on the lake that offers pump-out services and since a weekend renter is unlikely to bring in a septic disposal company at a cost of about $500 for a pump out, these floatig cabins create an environmental hazard in my opinion.
I don't understand why the proposed changes would exclude small purpose-build floating houses that are being marketed as short term accomodations on the water.
