STOP STOP STOP the assault on our environment! Stop stealing my daughter's future! This government has been the worst for environmental crimes I've ever seen, and it's happening just when we urgently need to be cutting emissions in order to ameliorate the worst effects of the climate crisis.
The Ring of Fire area is especially sensitive, since it's within the Hudson Bay Lowland: the largest peatland in North America. Peat is a major carbon sink. It's estimated the Hudson Bay Lowlands store up to 35 billion tons of carbon. We need these peatlands functioning. You claim this mining will help our fight against the climate crisis by producing batteries for EVs, but the cost of destroying these carbon sinks will outweigh any benefits.
First you destroy the Greenbelt. Now this. It's so tragic and corrupt.
