We are boaters from the Owen Sound area. My wife and I are retired and try and spend our summers sailing in the North Channel. We try and stay away from cottages and homes because we like our privacy too. There are times when we have to anchor in areas where there are cottages and homes such as when the marinas are full for whatever reason, when a storm is coming and we try and get to the safest anchorage as quick as possible for shelter as some fill up fast, we ran into engine problems more than once and had to stay to do repairs, of course in a sheltered area, also when covering long distances we have to do a stop over sometimes. We do try and avoid public spots whenever we can but I would hate to see anchoring in our scenic waterways limited. I have no problem with the 7 day limit but the 300 m proposal is crazy! Sounds like who ever came up with this proposal hasn’t done much anchoring themselves. There are several places where the bottom drops off right from shore, try a 7:1 scope in 30 ft of water! This is totally unfair proposal being brought forward by a group of people who don’t feel it is our right to use our waterways freely. As far as noise complaints, sailboats don’t make much noise, what about the people living along the shore with there noisy water toys and flying up and down the shore, they are more disruptive than the cruisers are. We live right along the shore on Georgian Bay and enjoy seeing boats anchored out, all part of the scenery. It is a shame if it is a small group of boaters ruining it for all of us
