This regulation is punitive to boaters and further exacerbates friction between landowners and boaters. It seems to only address concerns of landowners with waterfront, and not take into account the needs of the many boaters that also use this land. As a conscientious boater on Georgian Bay, I frequently use anchorages from Midland to Meldrum Bay and consistently maintain a considerate distance from cottages where possible. Along the Eastern Shore of Georgian Bay there are many areas where it would render established anchorages unusable if these new regulations were put into place. In the rocky areas of the North Channel, there are many established anchorages where boaters need to tie to shore in order to secure their vessel, as there is not enough room to swing at anchor. The 300m limit would eliminate these great anchorages. The 7 day limit is arbitrary and not in keeping with any existing legislation.
I propose that the regulation:
-differentiate between boaters and the types of 'floating cottages' that I believe are actually the problem
-NOT reduce the length of stay from 21 days to 7 days
-NOT prohibit anchoring within 300m of land
-NOT increase the distance to move from 100m to 1km
