Municipal interference, pandering to landlords and for profit housing providers is the only reason the province has been asked to get involved. NIMBYism and false concerns based on ignorance.
In the Rideau Lakes area homeless folks have taken to these floating homes - that is the real reason folks here are concerned. because they can't control or regulate them and are asking the province to step in. before doing that, the federal waterways should get all those illegal boat houses the rich folk built, wihtout permits or permission and deal with them instead.
If the province, municipalities, and federal governments won't provide meaningful feedback of the vulnerable populations and take that into consideration then they should not rush to manage a situation they are being forced into. Developers and land hoarders are the money behind these complaints.
